Missionaries We Support
Paul & Rebecca Armerding
Since 1903, American Mission Hospital (AMH) has maintained a faithful, consistent witness to the people of the predominantly Muslim nation of Bahrain. As the staff of AMH offer quality medical care in the name of Christ, they have built relationships of trust that have helped create an atmosphere that is more open to the presence of Christians in Bahrain. Paul Armerding is chief medical officer of American Mission Hospital. He and his wife, Rebecca, have served in Bahrain since 1988. They have two adult children, Charlotte and John. Paul and Rebecca Armerding serve through the Reformed Church in America.
Barry & Teryl Bruce
Barry and Terryl Bruce founded The Way Out Ministries in 1984 to reach the people of Hawaiian Gardens, a small urban area in Los Angeles County that has one of the highest per-capita crime rates in the United States. Many of Hawaiian Gardens’ families live in poverty, and many young people turn to gangs for acceptance. Through The Way Out, Terryl
and Barry coordinate weekly youth clubs, support groups, Bible studies, and a referral network of service agencies. Terryl is the principal of The Way Out Ministries Christian Academy, a private mission school for low-income junior and senior high school students. Barry is pastor of a church in the community that was planted by The Way Out Ministries in 2003. They have three children, Ryan, Rachel, and Michelle, all of whom are actively involved in ministry. Barry and Terryl serve through the Reformed Church in America. Click here to view their latest prayer letter.

Brad Fieldhouse
Brad serves as the Executive Director & Long Beach Catalyst for the Kingdom Causes Ministry, which works in local cities to INSPIRE, CONNECT and MOBILIZE God's people locally towards personal and community transformation. His organization is interested in looking at the both the physical and spiritual condition of those in a community, and believes that within each city God has already placed most, if not all, of the resources necessary to bring about its transformation. As a highly decentralized organization, Kingdom Causes seeks to identify, empower and support local citizens and their leaders.
In late 1999, Brad was commissioned as a Pastor in the Reformed Church of America and is currently involved as a key leader in a larger effort (Church Multiplication Associates) that has seen numerous churches being planted in Southern California, in many other states across the nation and in various other countries around the world. Ministries We Support
Our Friends in Ethiopia
As part of a ministry partnership which includes the Ethiopia Evangelical Church Mekane Jesus (one of the fastest growing denominations in the world) and World Vision (the world’s largest Christian international relief and development organization), NLCC is working in Ethiopia to bring the gospel and community development to an unreached/unevangelized people group we call “Our Friends”. (Because of security concerns, we are not able to post the actual name of this group.) As the nation's poorest ethnic group, this two million member Muslim tribe has roamed the barren desert of Ethiopia for millennia, eking out an existence for their herds and families. Remote and neglected by the rest of the world, they refer to themselves as “The Forgotten People.”
With the enthusiastic involvement of Our Friends, a five year plan has been established that addresses the agricultural, veterinary, educational and health needs of Our Friends. Currently, eight Ethiopian Christian workers have already been deployed to begin the projects of mercy addressing these needs. The goal of this ministry is to live out the gospel with the aim of seeing the Holy Spirit birth a community of Christians among Our Friends where the Jesus Christ is worshipped in their language and culture. We believe the day of salvation has come to Our Friends; they are no longer forgotten!
Dave & Susan Gras
Dave Gras grew up on a dairy in Artesia, California, with his family attending New Life Community Church (where they still attend today!). On staff since 1969, Dave and Susan have represented the Navigators in various capacities over the years: campus ministry at Kansas State University and Laval University in Quebec City, Canada, and marketplace ministry in the Kansas City area. In 2006, they begin giving leadership to the four-state Heartland Region, guiding Navigator staff in the fulfillment of the Navigator calling – evangelism, discipling and equipping. They also lead a team of Navigator staff in Kansas City that ministers in a variety of areas including church discipleship, collegiate ministry, discovery forums, international students, marketplace ministry, relational and emotional healing, twenty-somethings, and urban ministry. In addition to leadership responsibilities, Dave carries on a ministry of evangelism and discipling in the community, and Susan provides help in administration and strategic planning. Dave and Susan’s deepest desire is to live completely for Jesus Christ, to be pleasing to Him, to grow in His ways, reflecting His love and grace, and to accomplish the plan that He has for them.
Ron & Nancy Hilbrands
Ron and Nancy Hilbrands, together with their daughters Alison, Julie, and Lisa, are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). Ron and Nancy have served with MAF for over 25 years in many different places and with different responsibilities: Indonesia (Papua), Lesotho (Southern Africa), the headquarters in Redlands, CA, and now at the headquarters in Nampa, ID. Currently, Ron is the Manager of Recruiting where he is responsible for six other recruiters, leading the team in meeting the overseas needs of MAF. Counseling potential candidates is probably the highlight for Ron as he helps them discern what God's will may be for them. Nancy's life is very full as she provides a loving home for their teen-age daughters, provides hospitality for the many candidates coming through for evaluation at MAF, and works full-time as a Speech Therapist in the local school district. Harry & Pat Miersma
Both the Reformed Church in America and Wycliffe Bible Translators (WBT) have a rich history of bringing God's Word to people everywhere. In 2003 the RCA and WBT entered a partnership that will strengthen their shared efforts to bring God's Word to milions of people still without a Bible in their language. For 25 years Harry and Pat Miersma have provided counseling and crisis intervention services for RCA and WBT missionaries in over 100 countries. Now based in Dallas, they continue to serve WBT and RCA colleagues worldwide. As senior member of Wycliffe's counseling staff, Harry counsels and consults with missionaries who serve countries all over the world. He also helps prepare other counselors for this unique ministry. Pat, an international personnel training consultant, trains national church leaders and provides Scripture-use materials for churches suffering from persecution, conflict, AIDS, and famine. L. Tinio
L. Tinio was born in Manila, Philippines and immigrated to the America with her family at a young age. She has been part of the New Life family since high school. While attending the University of California, San Diego, she met the Navigators and caught their vision: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. Joining the staff in 1993, L. Tinio has served overseas in Ukraine and Russia, and in campus ministry at Cal State Long Beach. Currently, she is involved with the International Student Ministry of the United Kingdom Navigators in England. By God’s grace, she desires to live out the Navigators' vision statement and Jesus command in Matthew 28: 19-20 to go and make disciples amongst the nations, as she lives in a community where students come from all over the globe. Due to security reasons, contact information for L. Tinio should be obtained through the church office or mission committee.
Daryl & Sun Young
While becoming acquainted with Wycliffe, the Daryl and Sun grasped the need and a vision of participating in helping to bring God’s word to people who don’t yet have it in their heart language. Using the gifts and skills God had given them, they desired to be part of this mission team, using aviation to support the translators and literacy workers living in remote regions. This eventually lead to a field assignment in Cameroon, where they currently serve with their three children Abigail Clare, Caleb James and Hannah Lucile.
