Neighborhood Hubs

...where everybody knows your name...

You are invited to join a group of New Life attenders living near you, to meet regularly for food, fun and encouragement.  Volunteer facilitators within the group help care for each member through prayer and other assistance. It is our goal for every person at New Life to be connected to others, care for others and use their God-given gifts in the context of a neighborhood hub.

Check out what hubs are doing. Post an update to your hub. Sign up to join a hub group in your neighborhood.

Hub group L met for a potluck lunch on a Sunday afternoon in May at our neighborhood Sunshine Park. Although there were only 9 of us we had fun getting to know one another. There was a variety of food and the weather was lovely. Our next gathering will be Thursday, July 16th Heritage Park's first Concert In The Park.

Hub Group N had our first potluck in May to start the ball rolling. We discussed various ideas, and will begin to fine tune details in the next few meetings. In the beginning, it is important to build relationships within the group. The group will get stronger as we see this happen.

Our next meeting is June 27th. We are going to have a game night at church with desserts.

On Sunday, May 31, in the Chapel from 12-3 Hub Group G had a potluck and game event, to get to know each other better. We had 16 adults and children attend (7 families represented)The guys play “lawn bowling” the ladies played “chicken feet” dominos, the kids played a variety of kid gams and later wanted to learn how to play “chicken feet” which we all did. The two littlest guys went to the play ground with their moms for a while too.

We have had a couple older ladies meet to go to the movies together in the afternoon for sr prices and offered to let anyone come if they desired. Tomorrow we will go and see Angels and Demons together.

We decided on May 31st to go on a Nature Walk together (all invited) at the El Dorado Park Nature Center early morning of July 18 Need to make sure they will not be affected by the budget stuff.

We just had our 1st HUB Group Q gathering, held last Saturday, June 6th, 2009, in the Fireside Room of NLCC. It went smoothly and successfully, by the Grace of God. There was a fairly good turn out of our neighbors, with lots of good food, mouth savoring desserts, and good participation. Thanks to each and every one! The ice- breaking games contributed by Michelle Morris and Grace Toy, helped loosen up folks, and we have gotten to know a little more, about each of our neighbors. Thanks to all, who came, helped out, and were inadvertently drawn into participation via the ice-breaking games. We will keep you posted of our next gathering.

Group "D" met as a sort of "kick off" at a local park. Everyone brought their own lunch (some brought extras to share...) It was an informal setting with the idea we just wanted to get to know each other a little better. It was a fun time and I think was successful in that respect. We are attempting to setup a structured communication followup process (so we don't miss anybody along the way) and hope to have that in place in the coming month or so. Our next planned outing should be in August. A BBQ at our home. Some fun games and "hopefully" casual enough to build a sense of community within the our group.
