MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)

What is MOPS?
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a program designed for mothers with children under the age of five. The women are of all ages and backgrounds, but they share the same desire—to be the best mothers they can be.

What do mothers do at a MOPS meeting?
Typically, a MOPS morning consists of eating, socializing, making crafts, and listening to a speaker. Speaker’s topics range from parenting concerns to personal development issues. During the course of the morning there is a lot of talking, laughing, eating, and sharing of the frustrations and joys of motherhood.

What about the children?
While moms are refreshing their spirits with other moms, children are cared for in a parallel program called MOPPETS, where they experience love in a pre-school-like setting. Nursery workers teach the children from a Christian curriculum.  The children’s classrooms and the nursery are conveniently located in rooms adjacent to the Fireside Room, where the mothers meet.

Where does MOPS meet?
MOPS meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month (third week in September through the first week in June) from 9:30-11:30 am at the church. Moms go to the Fireside Room and children go to the adjacent nursery and toddler rooms.

Does MOPS cost anything?
The MOPS year is divided into two semesters, from September through December and from January through June.  A large portion of the meeting fees pay for MOPPETS teachers. The rest is used for other expenses such as gifts for speakers, craft supplies, paper goods, and supplies for MOPPETS.  Your first visit to MOPS is FREE. If you visit during the middle of a semester and then decide to join, you will pay a prorated fee to join for the remainder of the semester.  The first semester fee is $40.00.  The second semester fee is $60.00.

How do I get more information?
You can call the church at (562) 924-4466, ext. 200 for more information. Or go to the official MOPS International website to learn more. Finally, you can also download or print the registration form here.

Women's Bible Study

The Women's Bible Study meets most Tuesdays from 10:30am to noon. It is rather informal as people come and stay for as long as they have. Presently, the focus is on Matthew 5-7 using The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard to add to the study and discussion. Each Bible Study time includes a sharing and prayer time.  On the 4th Tuesday of each month, we suspend the study and just have sharing, prayer, and a potluck.  For more information, please contact the church office at (562) 924-4466 x200.

Girls' Night Out

Girl's Night Out is a place where women can gather either to work on those unfinished or new projects that they can’t seem to find the time or space to work on at home, or to simply have a “night out with the girls." We usually share some refreshments and laughter, play a few games, and then end in prayer. You may also browse the “Share and Share Alike” table - a table filled with perfectly good items that one of us may no longer need and would like to give away to someone else who might enjoy it. These items may include reading material, craft books, household items, etc. We hope you’ll make plans to join us.

Girl’s Night Out meets on the third Monday of the month in the Church's Fireside Room from 7-9pm. We break in July and August and resume meeting in September. For further information contact Linda Letsom by calling the Church Office (562) 924-4466 or emailing her at lletsom@yahoo.com.
