Bridgebuilders was originally to be a Singles class, but over the years it has become a group open to everyone - the current group consists of men and women ages 35 to 80 years old! The group often studies a specific book of the Bible and engages in lots of lively discussion about how their faith relates to life. The group has potlucks at a classmate's home several times during the year and even ventures on a field trip from time to time. This friendly group welcomes anyone desiring a place to belong. Faithbuilders is a friendly and caring group consisting of individuals in their 50s and 60s -- but this is not a group designated by age as truly anyone is welcome! Every week, there is a meaningful prayer time, singing, and a member-led Bible study that is based upon David Cook’s curriculum. The group stays connected outside the classroom through weekly email prayer lists and after class restaurant or coffee shop outings. Faithbuilders meets in B-212.
Lamplighters consists of about 15 members mostly aged 50 to 60 years old. Several members rotate teaching the lessons from the David Cook study guide, which encourages much group discussion. Peacemakers is a welcoming group of believers who seek to develop the faith "to move mountains" through Bible study, discussion, prayer, and fellowship. The class format includes lively discussion rather than lecture, giving everyone the opportunity to share their experiences and what they've learned from God's Word. The group strives to be a constant source of warm love and care as members share weekly needs and victories. The group also often gathers outside class time for times of fun and fellowship. They welcome participants of all ages to join them! Mountain Movers meets in room B-209.
JOY OF LIVING is an ongoing Bible study for the community - while most of the group attends New Life Community Church as their worship home, the group is open to people from any worship community. Throughout the year, the group chooses a different book of the Bible as its study source, seeking to foster spiritual growth through personal study, teaching, and small group discussion. Joy of Living meets weekly on Tuesday nights from 7-8:15pm in B-205. For more information please contact Al Boysen at (562) 866-2700 or Colette Yonce (562) 925-5774.
