Fighting for Faith

Pastor Ryan finishes our series Life in God’s Family by telling us what Paul says of unhealthy influencers, finances, and fighting the good fight of faith.

Scripture: 1 Timothy 6:3-21

Giving

So what’s the big deal about money… especially in the church? Jesus actually talked more about money than prayer and faith! And yet even when Jesus lived, people struggled with making money their god. But He never said money was bad – just the love of it. And He cautions us, too, to not make it our god, precisely in our economy of wealth and prosperity. Maybe – just maybe – one of the mysteries of our faith is that when we give to help others, God transforms our own heart in the process and reminds us that He is in control and not us.

Scripture: Matthew 6:1-4; 1 Timothy 6:10

In Light of Eternity, What Difference Does it Make

We’ve all heard, “In the end, the one with the most toys WINS.” We’ve also heard, You can’t take it with you. No matter what your spiritual beliefs are, the behavior from those two statements created constant tension in everyone’s life. This sermon looks at other treasures that may be causing ‘blindness’ and may be prohibiting us from serving in ways the God has designed us. Some say that the pinnacle point of the Sermon on The Mount is contained in these verses.

Scripture: Matther 6:19-24
